BEST non-scary monster book in existence!Reviewed by K. L. Hawkins, 2007-12-03
Not so much about scary things - just about how all monsters are different, and we shouldn't judge them by their covers. This is fun, bright, clever, and highly entertaining for adults and kids. I bought this for my 5-year-old, who is rather skittish and scared of most things, and he LOVED it. He is now 7, and he STILL loves it, and his 3-year-old brother now also adores it. We've read it countless times, and there are tiny nuances to the illustrations that keep even me entertained. I've purchased a ridiculous amount of books for my kids, and if I had it to do over again, this would be in the top 5 of my list of 'must have' books for them.

The text is good, but not really everything you wanted to know about monster! But,the illustrations are wonderful.

Come one Come all to the monster show. A little girl is the host of
this show. She introduces to various monsters and teaches us things
that she thinks we might not know about monsters. She tells us that
some monsters like to eat toothpaste. She also tells us that not
all monsters bite even thought they might have big teeth.
What did you like or not like about the book?
The books illustrations were created in a bold college like
style.
Yes Parents can use this book as a tool to teach kids that there
are no such things and monsters and that they shouldn't be afraid
of them.
Monsterific!Reviewed by JotandTittle, 2005-01-27
My daughter, aged almost 3, loves the Monster Show. She's not scared of them yet, and delights in all of the crazy, colorful monsters. Harper demonstrates, yet again, her creative, witty talent!
Vividly colorful, creative and fun! A new Classic!Reviewed by Sarah Robertson, 2005-01-26
My 2 1/2 year old son asks for this book every night, over and over. Charise's art is unparalled in the children's book world right now--highly saturated colors with great texture and detail that small children find absolutely fascinating. We study each page over and over, looking for new, undiscovered surprises. The storyline--a play put on about monsters, by monsters--helps children overcome any fears of monsters. It is sweet, human and upbeat--typical of Charise Harper's work. If you like this book, don't miss Bold Lady--an earlier work which you can sing to your children to the tune of "there was an old lady who swallowed a fly". I absolutely love reading these books to my son, even if its 2-3 times a night--adults will not grow tired of the creative, colorful and rich illustrations either!!
